Charged in Georgia with Taking Part in a Broad Conspiracy

Meadows Testifies in Federal Courtroom in Georgia

ATLANTA - Mark Meadows, Donald Trump's final White House chief of staff, testified in a federal courtroom in Georgia on Monday that he helped former President Trump's reelection efforts in the state, but he denied taking part in a broad conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Meadows' testimony came in a hearing on his motion to move his Georgia criminal case to federal court. The Fulton County District Attorney's office is investigating whether Meadows and other Trump allies attempted to interfere with Georgia's 2020 election results.

During his testimony, Meadows said he met with Trump several times in the lead-up to the election to discuss ways to boost Trump's chances of winning in Georgia. He also said he helped organize a meeting between Trump and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, in which Trump urged Kemp to overturn the state's election results.

However, Meadows denied that he was involved in any illegal activity related to the election. He said he was simply "following orders" from Trump and that he believed that the election was "stolen" from Trump.

The Fulton County District Attorney's office has not yet decided whether to indict Meadows. However, the hearing on his motion to move his case to federal court is expected to continue for several days.
